Orchha

On the banks of River Betwa, Orchha is located just 1 ½ hour south of Gwalior. It is very peaceful city which is covered with well-preserved temples and palaces and they have really a unique charm. In fortified walls of Orccha, there are three main enclosed palaces. The most impressive and largest one is Jahangir Mahal. You will have some panoramic and majestic views on its upper levels.

 

Gwalior

The best part of Gwalior is its great connectivity. It is just 2-hours drive away from Agra. The skyscraping tower is the major attraction. It is known as one most invincible fort of the country which holds around 1000 years of history. There are several temples and forts inside the walls of fort.

 

Sanchi

It has one of the ancient Buddhist relics of the country which is located northeast of Bhopal. Great Stupa is most remarkable one. It was constructed in 262 BC by Emperor Ashoka. Several temples, stupas and monasteries are found here.

 

Mandu

It is the abandoned city which was once the royal seat of the Mughals. The crumbling buildings are encircled with a long wall stretch of 28 miles with 12 gateways. This place is an ideal retreat from daily chaos.

 

Maheshwar

Also known as “the Varanasi of Central India”, Maheshwar is a mini holy place which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is located on the banks of Narmada River. Where Narmada River flows, it is believed that only Lord Shiva is worshipped because only this god can calm her with inner peace.

 

Ujjain

This small town has several oldest temples and one of them is Mahakaleshwar Temple where one of 12 holy Jyotirlingams of India is placed. Ujjain is among seven sacred places of Hinduism and one of four Indian cities which receive the great Kumbh Mela every year.

 

Omkareshwar

An island in the middle of River Narmada, Omkareshwar appears as a symbol of “Om” from the helicopter view. It is another place where India’s one of 12 Jyotirlingas are located.
